Movie Review: Shrek 2 -- There was a time when it was easy to find a movie appropriate for the entire family. I wasn't born yet, but my parents assure me that when they were kids, (before television brought Hollywood entertainment right into the home), movie-going was an activity for entire family enjoyed together.

Movie Review: Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams -- I used to have a rule regarding any movie title with a numeral in it: Rent the original. It's kind of like making photocopies: each subsequent generation gets weaker and weaker.

Movie Review: A Cinderella Story -- The story of "Cinderella" is one of the world's most enduring legends, and has served as the inspiration for countless films. The poor little stepdaughter who is elevated to the rank of princess is such a part of our collective psyche that there are elements of her in such disparate fare as "My Fair Lady" and "Pretty Woman."

Movie Review: Lilo & Stitch -- Stitch is a little monster - an alien genetic experiment created with one purpose: to destroy everything he sees. And he's been unleashed to an unsuspecting Earth - where a little Hawaiian girl named Lilo mistakes him for a dog and adopts him as a pet. An orphan who is being raised by an older sister, Lilo acts out at home and at school and is in danger of being put into foster care.

Movie Review: Jonah - A Veggie Tales Movie -- As the mother of a 6-year-old, I somehow managed to miss the Veggie Tales series of inspirational kid videos, and I must admit that viewing the coming attractions for this film left me rather underwhelmed. After all, the only thing I dread more than a movie based on a TV series is one that is based on a direct-to-video project.

Movie Review: Hey Arnold - The Movie -- I confess: I like "Hey Arnold," the cartoon series on Nickelodeon. I like the fact that Arnold lives in a gritty, urban neighborhood in a boarding house owned by his eccentric grandparents. I like his friends. I like the way Helga bullies him to disguise the fact that she secretly loves him. I love some of the clever episodes, like the one where the producers pay homage to Loony Tunes and do the whole thing as an opera. I especially like Arnold, who is the kind of kid I like my daughter to choose as a friend: cheerful, smart and nice.

Movie Review: Sleepover -- Most adults remember adolescence as both an exciting and a horrific time, which is one of the reasons why so many filmmakers have scored with coming of age stories. While these movies are made with a young audience in mind, the best of them also appeal to those of us who remember the highs and lows of navigating that passageway to adulthood.

Movie Review: Agent Cody Banks -- Yes, the premise of "Agent Cody Banks" is strikingly similar to the "Spy Kids" series, and no, the Cody production team is not as wildly original as the former series' Richard Rodriguez. But if your family enjoyed "Spy Kids," chances are, they'll find this one just as entertaining - so who's to say there's no room on the shelf for more than one espionage series with underage stars? Especially when it's as much fun as this one.

Movie Review: Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement -- There was a time when I refused to buy a ticket to a sequel. I concluded that most of them were inspired less by the need to continue the story than by an urge to profit more from a previous success. They were invariably disappointing, so why
bother? And what ever happened to the idea of just leaving the audience with the memory of a happy or satisfying ending?

Movie Review: Scooby Doo -- My first thought after seeing this movie was that the critics were all going to hate it. It's so-called plot goes all over the place, the sets are cheesy and the characters are thinly-drawn cartoons.
