INXS 'Live Baby Live' DVD

It's hard to believe Michael Hutchence has been gone for 6 years. The band continues on without him, but without their charismatic frontman there will always be a big void. You do have a chance to relive the glory days of INXS with the DVD release of "Live Baby Live". It was filmed during the July 31st, 1991 concert at Wembley Stadium in London in front of 73,000 fans.

The Australian band got their start back in 1977 in Sydney as The Farris Brothers. The band's lineup, made up of Michael Hutchence, Andrew Farriss, Tim Farriss, Garry Beers and Kirk Pengilly remained unchanged for 20 years. In 1979 they changed their name to INXS and their self-titled debut was released in 1980 in their home country.

Their next several albums did very well in Australia and Europe and they were signed to a U.S. deal. 1985's Listen Like Thieves was their worldwide breakthrough. It spawned the hit singles "What You Need" and the title track.

1987 saw INXS become one of the biggest bands in the world with the release of Kick. It went on to sell over 6 million copies in the U.S. alone and contained huge singles like "Need You Tonight", "Devil Inside", "New Sensation", and "Never Tear Us Apart."

In late 1990 X was released. "Suicide Blonde" was a top ten single from that album. The X Factor tour in 1991 is where the concert for this DVD was recorded. INXS recorded a few more albums before Hutchence's untimely death in November of 1997.

The Live Baby Live CD was great, but the DVD adds so much more. It's a snapshot of an electrifying band at the top of their game, and a must own for INXS fans.

In addition to the concert, the "Live Baby Live" DVD contains many extras. Perhaps the coolest is the audio commentary track. For movies it's a common thing, but for concerts there aren't too many commentary tracks. You can hear the band talking about the concert as the songs are playing. It's a very interesting addition.

Other extras include remastered 5.1 surround sound, "Talk Baby Talk", band interviews, backstage footage, photo gallery and new booklet artwork.
