Matthew Fogg & Nicole Hajj: Live At The Azure Cafe -- The mixture of jazz standards and originals is as compelling as it is enriching for the casual listener or connoisseur. Music like this has a particular audience, one that can appreciate good music and the changes it can go through in a live setting. It is quite simple actually, if you have a love for good music, this CD will find a way into your heart.

Kemp Harris: Edenton --  Kemp Harris titled his new album after his home Edenton North Carolina. It makes sense to me, use your “home is where the heart is” philosophy, and turn it into music and lyrics that come from the very core of your soul. Harris sings about much more than his former hometown (he resides in Boston now) but I cannot help feeling that was the foundation for everything else that happened on this recording.

Emerson Hart: Cigarettes & Gasoline -- Emerson Hart has a past that follows him in his music and in his life. As the former lead singer of the popular band Tonic he made an impression in the heads of younger music fans, and an impact on the charts. Now he continues to develop as a prolific solo artist.

Heart: Dreamboat Annie Live -- My first instinct, upon receiving Dreamboat Annie Live for review, was to dig through my record collection and give the original Dreamboat Annie a spin. Released in 1976 by Canada’s Mushroom Records, Dreamboat Annie is a great album and a must have for any rock enthusiast. Hiding in Public: What Lies Ahead --  Hiding in Public - my first thought was that it’s an interesting oxymoron. What Lies Ahead features the edgy throaty, yet warm vocals of Jamie Moses (Brian May Band, Queen, Paul Rodgers) and the driving guitars of Moses and David Holland. Kevin Poree plays bass and keys, and his partner in rhythm is John Tonks on drums. The four men form quite a team and the talent is undeniable in this London band.

John Lee Hooker: Hooker - 4 Disc Boxed Set --  When I heard Shout! Factory was releasing a four disc John Lee Hooker boxed set I almost jumped through my monitor, man I wanted it now! This label reminds of a label that was once a flourishing indie label as well, Rhino. They do things in a very distinctive way that separates them from all the rest.

Thelma Houston: A Woman's Touch -- Thelma Houston may have been a diva in the ‘70s but the title still applies several decades later. She has a smoldering soulful album out now titled A Woman’s Touch. The CD features tracks originally recorded by male singers including Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye and Sting, to mention a few.
